Background

About the Dell Latitude E6400 ATG

Sold 2008–2010

The Dell Latitude E6400 ATG is the semi-rugged version of the 14.1-inch E6400, continuing the ATG idea first seen on the D620. It uses the same Core 2 Duo platform and E-Port docking as the standard model but adds a tougher casing, covers over the ports and a brighter screen intended for outdoor reading.

ATG stands for All-Terrain Grade, and the model was meant for field engineers, the military and similar users who needed more protection than an office laptop but not the cost and weight of the fully rugged E6400 XFR. On earlier ATG and XFR machines the adhesive behind the protective screen glass was known to leak and form bubbles, so the display is worth inspecting.
