About the Dell Latitude E5500

Sold 2008–2010

The Dell Latitude E5500 was the 15.4-inch member of the essential tier introduced with the E series in 2008. Offered with Celeron or Core 2 Duo processors, it gave buyers the larger screen of the E6500 at a lower price, in a simpler and somewhat heavier case, while still docking on the standard E-Port stations.

Its 14.1-inch sibling was the E5400, and the pair took the place of the outgoing D530 and D531. The E5510 of 2010 replaced it and changed the screen to a 15.6-inch panel. Nothing in particular is known to go wrong with the E5500 beyond normal ageing, which at more than fifteen years means batteries, hard drives and cooling fans.
