About the Dell Latitude E6400 XFR

Sold 2009–2010

Dell's fully rugged laptop of the first E-series generation, the Dell Latitude E6400 XFR was introduced in 2009 as the successor to the XFR D630. Inside it is closely related to the 14.1-inch Core 2 Duo E6400, but the outer shell is a heavily reinforced, sealed design intended to survive drops, dust and water in military, emergency service and industrial use.

It sat at the top of a three-step range: the standard E6400, the semi-rugged E6400 ATG and the XFR. The price and weight were far higher than those of the ordinary machine. Parts unique to the rugged casing, such as port doors and the armoured display assembly, are much harder to source than the shared E6400 internals.
