Background

About the Dell Inspiron 600m

Sold 2003–2005

Dell introduced the Inspiron 600m in March 2003, at the launch of Intel's Pentium M processor and Centrino platform. It was the consumer version of the Latitude D600, sharing that machine's thin 14.1-inch chassis, and it offered dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon graphics where the cheaper Inspiron 500m relied on an integrated chipset.

The 600m was positioned as a thin-and-light all-rounder with far better battery life than the Pentium 4-M models it replaced, and it was the model above the Inspiron 500m in Dell's Pentium M line-up. Its batteries were included in Dell's 2006 recall. On machines of this age, expect tired batteries, slow IDE hard drives and wear to hinges and keyboard.
