Background

About the Dell Inspiron 1526

Sold 2008–2009

The Dell Inspiron 1526 is the AMD edition of the Inspiron 1525, launched alongside it in 2008. It uses the same slim 15.4-inch casing with a 1280 x 800 widescreen display, but swaps Intel hardware for AMD Turion 64 X2, Athlon 64 X2 or Sempron processors and ATI Radeon integrated graphics.

It was normally the cheaper of the pair. It is reported to share the 1525's weak points, namely overheating and a CMOS battery that runs down and loses the clock and BIOS settings. Add to that the general effects of age, such as depleted main batteries and slow mechanical hard drives, and most survivors need some work to be usable.
