About the Dell Inspiron 1150

Sold c. 2004–2005

The Dell Inspiron 1150 followed the 2003 Inspiron 1100 as Dell's low-priced full-size laptop, keeping the same choice of 14.1-inch or 15-inch XGA displays. Processors were Intel Celeron or mobile Pentium 4 chips at speeds from 2.2GHz to 2.8GHz, with Intel integrated graphics.

It inherited its predecessor's thermal weaknesses. The model was included with the 1100, 5100, 5150 and 5160 in class action claims over overheating and early motherboard failure, and it is reported to share the chip solder fault associated with the Inspiron 5150. Machines of this generation are heavy, run hot and are now well beyond their expected service life, with batteries and hard drives the first parts to go.
