Background

About the IBM ThinkPad Edge E30

Introduced c. 2010

Part of the ThinkPad Edge range, the IBM ThinkPad Edge E30 dates from the first Edge generation that Lenovo introduced in 2010. E30 is one of several E-number designations, with E10, E40 and E50, that ThinkWiki lists next to the better-known Edge 11, 13, 14 and 15 names. Detailed manufacturer specifications for it are hard to find, but it shared the design of the series.

The Edge line opened with a 13.3-inch model in January 2010 and was the first ThinkPad family to adopt an island-style keyboard, dropping the older seven-row layout and the embedded number pad. Glossy lids and a choice of AMD or Intel processors also set it apart from the traditional T and X series. No Edge model was ever made or badged by IBM.
