Background

About the IBM ThinkPad Edge

IBM ThinkPad Edge refers to a family that was a Lenovo product from the start: the ThinkPad Edge was announced at CES in January 2010, five years after IBM sold its PC business, and never carried an IBM badge. It was the least expensive ThinkPad line, aimed at small and medium-sized businesses and at education, and it succeeded the SL series.

The first model was the 13.3-inch Edge 13, joined in March 2010 by the Edge 14 and Edge 15 and later by an 11.6-inch Edge 11. The design broke with ThinkPad habits: an island-style keyboard with a simplified top row, glossy lid finishes, and AMD as well as Intel processors. Later generations took E-numbers such as E420 and E520, and the line continues as the ThinkPad E series.
