Background

About the IBM ThinkPad Edge 13

Sold 2010–2011

Lenovo released the laptop listed here as IBM ThinkPad Edge 13 on 5 January 2010. It was the first ThinkPad Edge, and no IBM-badged version exists. The 13.3-inch machine launched with a choice of the Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 or the AMD Athlon Neo X2 L325, with the Core i3-380UM appearing later, in a case about 1.2 inches thick weighing 3.5 lb, close to 1.6 kg.

It introduced the Edge keyboard: island-style keys in uniform black, no embedded number pad, rarely used keys such as SysRq removed and multimedia controls placed directly on the function row. Lenovo quoted about seven hours of battery life, although a contemporary Engadget test recorded just over five. Original batteries will now be well below either figure.
