About the Dell Studio 1735

Sold 2008–2009

Dell Studio 1735 was the 17-inch model at the launch of the Studio range in mid-2008, introduced together with the Studio 15. It was built on Intel's Santa Rosa platform with Core 2 Duo processors, and was intended as a household desktop replacement with a large widescreen display, a slot-loading optical drive and the row of touch-sensitive media keys that marked the first Studio generation.

Two close relatives followed quickly: the 1736 with an AMD Turion 64 processor and the 1737 on Intel's newer Montevina platform. The 1735 is therefore the earliest and oldest specification of the three. Reports of the touch controls failing to respond apply to this model too, and the hard drive and battery are now far beyond their expected life.
