About the Dell Latitude

Sold 1994–2025

Latitude was Dell's business laptop brand from 1994 until January 2025, when the company announced it would be succeeded by the Dell Pro name. Early models carried XP and CP prefixes; the C series followed around 2000, the D series in 2003 and the E series in 2008, each with a common docking system so that fleets could share accessories.

From the mid-2010s the range was organised by number: 3000 for entry-level, 5000 for mainstream, 7000 for thin premium models and, from 2020, 9000 at the top, alongside Rugged and 2-in-1 variants. Latitudes were designed for corporate use, with long model lifecycles, good parts availability and service manuals published by Dell, which makes them comparatively straightforward to repair.
