Background

About the Dell Inspiron 1440

Sold 2009–2010

The Dell Inspiron 1440 was the 14-inch Inspiron of 2009, sold as the Inspiron 14 and replacing the Inspiron 1420. It adopted the look of the Inspiron 1545, with a glossy coloured lid, and moved to a 16:9 LED-backlit display.

Processor options were Intel Pentium Dual-Core and Core 2 Duo chips, and it was aimed at home users and students wanting something a little smaller and lighter than the 15.6-inch model. It was superseded at the start of 2010 by the Core i3 and i5 based Inspiron 1464. Common complaints with age are worn batteries, failing hard drives and a tired keyboard.
