Background

About the Sony VAIO VPCEA Series

Sold 2010–2011

The Sony VAIO VPCEA Series is the 14-inch member of the VAIO E Series, the family of colourful mainstream notebooks that Sony introduced in 2010. Within that family the second letter gives the size and platform: EA is the 14-inch Intel model, EB the 15.5-inch and EC the 17.3-inch.

The VPCEA used first-generation Intel Core i3 and i5 processors, with ATI Mobility Radeon graphics on better-equipped versions, and it was sold in several bright finishes aimed at students and home users. Second-generation Core models replaced it in 2011. The glossy plastic casing scratches readily, and batteries and hard drives are now common replacements.
