Background

About the Sony VAIO VPC B1 Series

Sold 2010–2011

The Sony VAIO VPC B1 Series was Sony's business notebook for 2010, the Windows 7 successor to the VGN BZ. It kept a 15.4-inch 16:10 screen at a time when consumer models were moving to 16:9, and it used first-generation Intel Core processors with integrated graphics.

Features followed corporate needs: a TPM security chip, a fingerprint reader, hard drive shock protection and a docking connector, in a sober casing with little of the colour found on home VAIO models. It was sold in much smaller numbers than the consumer ranges, so spare parts are harder to find. Battery and hard drive wear are the usual age-related faults.
